Nissan X-Trail gets Millennium Falcon makeover
Special show car celebrates new Star Wars movie
Nissan is celebrating the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story in theatres with a new show car based on the US-market Rogue SUV, known here as the X-Trail.
Shown on the Hollywood red carpet at the new film's world premiere, the Star Wars-themed SUV takes inspiration from the iconic Millennium Falcon space ship from the popular franchise.
Both the exterior and interior have received a comprehensive makeover, including hand-crafted aluminium body panels designed to mimic the look of the Millennium Falcon, along with 3D-printed detail inserts.
A roof-mounted radar dish and laser cannon also feature, as does a multi-pane windscreen resembling the design of the fictional space ship.
The rear is possibly the most intricate part of the exterior design, featuring a subspace-hyperdrive unit spanning the width of the vehicle, along with a trio of high-mounted Bose speakers and an 18-inch Bose subwoofer for an "aural experience". The audio system delivers 1500W.
Inside, the special Rogue concept has an array of buttons, lights and sound effects inspired by the Millennium Falcon's cockpit. There's also front- and second-row chairs designed to mimic those from the space ship, and centre-mounted "hyperdrive" controls.
"As the third instalment of our own trilogy of collaborations with Lucasfilm, we raised the bar delivering our best custom show vehicle yet," said Jeremy Tucker, Nissan's vice president of marketing communications and media.
"We started with the best-selling Nissan Rogue and worked with the talented concept designers at Lucasfilm and ILM. Then we turned to the experts at Vehicle Effects bring it to life. The result is hands-down the most complete and thrilling vehicle we've ever done."
