The Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR Concept has been unveiled at the 2018 Worthersee meeting in Austria.
Said to be inspired by the Golf GTI TCR race car, the concept features a new front bumper with a sharper front splitter, a crisper set of side sills, TCR lettering along the sides, a revised exhaust tip design, and a more aggressively-styled diffuser and lower rear spoiler.
Under the bonnet, the TCR's 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine has been tuned to deliver 213kW of power and 370Nm of torque, the latter available from just 1600rpm. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a locking differential.

By default the TCR has 18-inch alloy wheels, an upgraded braking package, two radiators, and an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.
Options include 19-inch rims, a honeycomb applique for the sides, and dynamic chassis control with driver-adjustable shock absorbers. Buyers can also opt to remove the electronic leash, allowing the hot hatch to hit a v-max of 264km/h.
On the inside, the GTI TCR is fitted with a new microfibre trim, illuminated scuff plates, 'Flash Red' highlights and stitching, a 12 o'clock marker on the steering wheel, and seats finished in a mixture of fabric and microfibre.

The production version of the Golf GTI TCR will reportedly debut before the end of 2018.
