2019 Dodge Charger facelift teased

Hey Hellcat! That looks like a new grille

A facelift for the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat has been teased ahead of its debut in the next few months.

At this point in time, details about the updated model are scant. Fiat Chrysler is only saying that it is "doubling down with upgrades inside and out".

According to the Italian-American firm, "high-performance Charger models get an all-new grille design, which extends the sinister-looking front end to accentuate visual width and reflects Charger customers’ continuous demand for standout exterior design".

From what we can see in the teaser, the Hellcat will feature an updated bumper design, revised grille pattern, an integrated Ram Air port, dark grey accents, new headlamp graphics, and an SRT logo incorporating the Hellcat mascot.

There's no word yet on whether the Hellcat, other SRT models, or, even the V6 versions of the Charger will feature engine upgrades.

For all those details, we'll have to wait until the northern summer when the 2019 model year Charger will make its debut. The company has already teased an update for the related Challenger coupe.

Although America's appetite for large sedans has waned in recent years, the Charger has held up slightly better than its mainstream competitors.

Last year, it headed the segment with 88,351 sales, ahead of the Chevrolet Impala (75,877), Chrysler 300 (51,237), Ford Taurus (41,236), Toyota Avalon (32,583), Buick LaCrosse (20,161), Kia Cadenza (7249), and Hyundai Azera (3060).
