2019 Hyundai iMax and iLoad pricing and specs
With a lower starting price and a new Elite trim for the iMax
Hyundai Australia has unveiled the restyled 2019 iLoad and iMax twins, with more equipment and a new iMax Elite model with a more luxurious cabin and twin sunroofs.
Both load-lugging and people-moving versions of the big Hyundai have benefitted from a new nose with a new, on-brand grille and squarer headlights. The iMax has gained a new bumper with integrated fog lights, too, although there's no changing the fact this is still a blocky, practicality-first mover of objects and people.
While we're talking about range-wide changes, both iLoad and iMax models have gained a reach- and height-adjustable steering column. There's a new instrument binnacle with a new trip computer, a revised 7.0-inch touchscreen and refreshed cloth interior trim.
The iMax range kicks off with the Active, priced from $43,990 (-$3300) before on-road costs. Power comes from a 2.5-litre diesel engine making 125kW and 441Nm, matched exclusively to a five-speed automatic transmission.
A rear-view camera, smartphone mirroring, auto dusk-sensing headlights, six speakers, a trip computer and folding side mirrors are standard, along with 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control and manual rear air conditioning.
Jumping to the Elite brings the same powertrain, but a host of additional equipment to justify the $48,490 manufacturer's list price. A beige leather interior, 17-inch alloy wheels, a chrome front grille, heated front seats (ventilated for the driver) and an electro-chromatic rear mirror are included, along with dual sunroofs.
On the load-lugging iLoad side, the range kicks off from $38,790 before on-roads for the Van Liftback. The twin swing-door Van starts at $39,340 while the Crew Van will set you back $40,790. A five-speed automatic transmission is a $3000 option across the range, with a six-speed self-shifter standard fit.
Where the automatic has the same outputs as the iMax people-mover, the manual offers just 100kW and 343Nm.
Auto dusk-sensing headlamps, a tilt and reach-adjustable steering column and trip computer have been added to the equipment list, while cruise control is standard on automatic-equipped models.
Both cars come with a five-year warranty, good for 160,000km in the iLoad and commercially-driven iMax models, or unlimited kilometres in 'general use' iMaxes. Servicing is required every 12 months and costs $356 on the first three and fifth visits, while the fourth is a $506 proposition.
Metallic paint is a $595 option for both vehicles.
