2019 Peugeot 508 Touring headed to Paris – report
New wagon to join sexy sedan
Peugeot could be prepping a new wagon-bodied variant of its new 508 for the Paris motor show in October – according to a new report.
Auto Bild reckons the French brand will show the new 508 Touring in Paris, complete with a similar design to the recently-revealed sedan from the B-pillar forward, with a more practical wagon rump and roofline down back.
None of this has been confirmed by Peugeot, obviously, but it would be a natural progression for the 508 nameplate considering the current model is offered in both sedan and Touring forms.
However, we are yet to see any images of a camouflaged 508 Touring prototype as yet, so this could all just be scuttlebutt.
Regardless, should the new 508 wagon make it to production, expect it to feature the same high-end interior layout as its sedan counterpart, bolstered by the more practical luggage area allowed by the wagon body style.
In its current form, the 508 sedan (pictured above) claims 487L of volume from its boot area, which expands to 1537L with the second row folded.
Additionally, the 508 Touring would gain the company's latest in driver-assistance technologies, including features like adaptive cruise control with stop/go, lane-keep assist, high-speed autonomous emergency braking, automatic high-beam, blind-spot monitoring, and the option of a night vision camera system.
Power will likely come from a range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines like the sedan, including a 168kW 1.6-litre petrol and 134kW 2.0-litre diesel – mated to a new eight-speed automatic transmission.
