2019 Toyota Supra spied with production alloy wheels

Another day, another set of Toyota Supra spy photos. This time around, the company's range-topping sports car has been spied with almost completely undisguised versions of its production wheels.

We can now see the two-tone design of the Supra's rims, with the only part obscured being the Toyota badge in the middle.

Elsewhere, this prototype vehicle is wearing the same amount of disguise as the car in the previous batch of spy photos, taken around the middle of April.

Thanks to the ever-shrinking market for sports cars, the new Supra is being developed and produced in conjunction with BMW. Under the skin, the new coupe and the next-generation Z4 convertible will share many parts, including their rear-wheel drive platform.

Indeed, the Supra will utilise many items from the BMW parts bin, including electronics, switchgear, and wing mirrors.

According to Tetsuya Tada, chief engineer of Toyota's Gazoo performance division, the new Supra will also use one of BMW's inline six-cylinder engines.

Externally, the two cars look as though they'll feature completely unique designs. Photos of the interior of the Z4 and Supra show the two cars have divergent interior design too, but differentiation is harder to come by thanks to the use of BMW-sourced components.

In addition to styling differences, both BMW and Toyota insist the two vehicles have been tuned to handle differently from each other.
