2018 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer pricing and specs
Updated MPV here in May from $49,500
Local pricing and specifications for the updated BMW 2 Series Active Tourer have been released this week, with the refreshed MPV to kick off from $49,500 before on-road costs.
While the price of entry has risen by $4500, the company has pared back the range to one variant, with just the 220i making the cut.
Design revisions include new front and rear treatments, updated lighting, an updated interior and a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Equipment highlights include the Luxury Line specification, 18-inch alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, LED headlights with cornering lights, LED fog-lights, automatic headlights and wipers, Dakota leather interior, 'Fineline' wood trim inserts, dual-zone climate control, an automatic tailgate, a 6.5-inch navigation system with BMW Connected+ and Remote Services, real-time traffic updates, and DAB+ radio.
On the safety front, there's city-speed autonomous emergency braking, lane-departure warning, a rear-view camera, speed sign recognition, and Approach Control Warning.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol, making 141kW of power and 280Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic – which replaces the outgoing model's eight-speed torque converter unit.
Fuel use is to be confirmed, though BMW claims the 220i will sprint from 0-100km/h in 7.4 seconds.
In addition to the aforementioned standard equipment, the revised 2 Series Active Tourer range will be offered with an array of options, including the M Sport Package – which adds a body kit, sports suspension, 18-inch M alloys, M leather steering wheel, and an Anthracite headliner to name a few highlights – and the Innovations Package, adding a head-up display, Driving Assistant Plus (adaptive cruise control with stop&go, lane-keep assist, front cross-traffic alert), and Navigation System Plus which incorporates a larger 8.8-inch high-resolution infotainment display.
There's also the Comfort Package, which includes features like keyless entry, electric seat adjustment (including lumbar) and memory function for the front seats, along with front seat heating. BMW says a "wide range" of single options will also be offered.
BMW has confirmed the first examples of the new 2 Series Active Tourer will arrive in May.
