Pagani Huayra BC Roadster spied

Last hurrah for Italian hypercar to be done sans roof

A camouflaged prototype believed to be the Pagani Huayra BC Roadster has been spied by photographers this week, hinting at the final variant of the company's V12 hypercar before its successor arrives in the coming years.

The company has already confirmed the Huayra Roadster will get the BC treatment, meaning we can expect the same wild treatment as the current BC coupe – though this time with the added feature of open-top thrills.

BC stands for Benny Caiola, the first Pagani customer and a friend of founder Horacio Pagani. In terms of what will change compared to the 'standard' Huayra Roadster, the open-top BC should lose weight while also getting a decent power bump.

The coupe got a more aggressive aerodynamics package for added downforce – including a large carbon-fibre wing at the back – and it's likely we can expect the same upgrades for the BC Roadster.

A more powerful engine will almost certainly make the cut, too, meaning the Roadster's current 562kW/1000Nm twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 from Mercedes-AMG could push the 600kW barrier.

The prototype seen here is wearing the front bumper of the BC coupe, though it's missing the rear diffuser and wing at this stage. Who knows, maybe the final edition of the Huayra Roadster will go a slightly different route to its roofed twin.

In terms of the production run, we're expecting the BC Roadster – or whatever it'll be called – to be limited to a run of around 20 units like the BC coupe.

Pricing will almost definitely be in the millions, and it's believed most of these vehicles have already been sold.
