The automotive news wheel is always turning. If you’re not constantly checking CarAdvice – which you should be doing, by the way – it can be easy for some headlines to slip through the cracks.

Infiniti confirms new electrified platform

We'll be see a range of new Infiniti vehicles with electric power, after the brand confirmed it's developing a fresh hybrid/electric platform based on the Q Inspiration concept from this year's Detroit motor show.

One of the cars will be a sedan aimed at China, built in Beijing, with looks likely derived from the Q Inspiration.


2018 Volkswagen Polo Beats pricing and specs

Volkswagen has announced pricing and specs for a new Polo variant, the Beats. The new flagship of the non-performance range will kick off from $22,490 before on-roads, or $24,990 in DSG guise.

The car comes with an Active Info Display and navigation, a 300W Beats Premium Audio system and a number of stylistic touches.


2018 Mazda BT-50 pricing and specs

The BT-50 has been given a nip-and-tuck, in an attempt to win favour in the hotly-contested dual-cab ute segment. As you can probably see, there's a new grille and front bumper, along with some minor changes to the (aftermarket) infotainment system.


BMW 8 Series: Initial details revealed

Alright, enough teasing. Can we see the full thing? BMW has continued the drip-feed of information about its upcoming 8 Series coupe, this time announcing outputs and drivetrain details for the M850i xDrive. With 390kW and 750Nm on tap, it's going to be fast.


2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class: Initial details

The fourth-generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class is coming to Australia later this year, complete with a fresh look and more tech inside. It's not quite a full pricing and specs breakdown, but we know the entire range will get the dual widescreen displays, along with a bigger 51-litre fuel tank and sat-nav.


Ford and ACCC reach settlement, penalty over PowerShift

"As we said from the outset of this action - we took too long to identify the issues and we acknowledge that PowerShift customers did not have complaints handled appropriately between May 2015 and February 2016,” said Graeme Whickman, president and CEO of Ford Australia said today.

“We were overwhelmed with the volume of complaints and, while it was not intended, over a ten-month period our processes were inadequate and information provided was either inaccurate or incomplete. We let our customers down and for that we are sorry."


Ford USA to kill all passenger cars except Mustang, Focus Active

Ford will kill the Taurus, Fusion, C-Max and Focus in North America, instead swinging its focus to crossovers and pickups. By 2020, the brand wants 90 per cent of its sales to be "trucks, utilities and commercial vehicles."


BMW Concept iX3 revealed

BMW has used the Beijing motor show to unveil the Concept iX3 SUV, a near-production teaser for its first mass-production electric vehicle.

It looks good, and the brand is promising more than 400km of driving range.


2019 Lexus ES revealed, Australia debut set for fourth quarter

The new Lexus ES has been unveiled in full this week, complete with a fresh architecture and improved hybrid power. It looks good to us, although we won't be getting the F Sport or the V6 in Australia.
