Honda reveals Everus EV concept

Electric HR-V crossover displayed in Beijing

The Everus EV concept has been unveiled by Honda and its partner GAC Motor at the 2018 Beijing motor show.

Based on the Honda HR-V, the Everus EV concept previews Honda's first China-only electric vehicle. It'll be sold under the Everus brand, joining the brand's only other production car: the S1, a rebadged and restyled fourth-generation Honda City sedan.

Compared to its internal-combustion donor, the Everus EV concept features new full-width headlights and tail-lights, redesigned bumpers, and a black, floating-effect roof. There are also blue highlights on the side sills, front spoiler, rear bumpers, and along the front lip of the bonnet.

Honda hasn't released drivetrain details about the Everus EV concept, so we can't tell you how much power or torque it has, nor its estimated driving range.

Given it's based on the HR-V, we expect it to be priced at the cheaper end of the electric car scale. As such, it will likely place a greater emphasis on price and range than outright performance.

When the Everus EV goes into production, it will be sold through GAC Honda dealers, and will be offered through the Reachstar car-sharing service.

The Everus EV is one of the first of 20 new electrified vehicles due by the end of 2025, and sales were initially mooted to begin some time this year.

Honda also plans to launch an electric vehicle for markets outside of China in the near future.
