Learn how to drive a manual car – Video

Let it out gently...

If you're a frequent CarAdvice reader, chances are you know how to drive a manual. But in markets like Australia and North America, manual transmissions are a dying breed.

Honda is clearly keen to do something about it, with a simple explainer about how to drive a "stick shift" and, perhaps more importantly, why you'd even want to.

This clearly isn't an expensive production, and there are a few 'Americanisms' in there, but it's a great way to make the nerve-wracking process of learning to drive a three-pedal car a bit more palatable.

Bear in mind, this is still an ad for Honda. There's mention of the broad range of Honda vehicles offered with a manual in the USA, in keeping with the brand's desired positioning as something of an 'enthusiast' brand.

Check out the video above, and tell us about your best (or worst) manual learner experiences in the comments.
