2018 Audi Q8 teased

New SUV could be revealed in Beijing

Audi has teased what appears to be the upcoming Q8 crossover on social media this week, ahead of a potential debut at the Beijing motor show.

While the German marque doesn't explicitly say the vehicle in the images is the Q8, though the side profile of the vehicle in the shadowy images – accented by the fluorescent tape tacked onto certain areas of the body – strongly suggest this is the case.

Accompanying the photo is the caption: "He carries the gene of the #Audi #Urquattro", drawing a comparison between the new SUV coupe's design and that of the original Audi Quattro.

Other hints that this is the Q8 include the sloping rear roofline and fastback tailgate, which differs greatly to the current Q7 and bears some resemblance to the Lamborghini Urus – of which the Q7 and Q8 share their MLB Evo architecture with.

The shape of the vehicle in the teaser images also lines up perfectly with the undisguised Q8 prototype spied last year (above).

Audi hasn't confirmed whether we'll see the market version of the Q8 later this week in Beijing, though we'd argue if it isn't revealed this week in China it won't be much longer until the new SUV makes its official debut.

Stay tuned to CarAdvice for our coverage of the Beijing motor show later this week.
