2018 Suzuki Ertiga unveiled

Swift-based people mover redeveloped

The second-generation Suzuki Ertiga has made its global debut at the 2018 Jakarta motor show.

Measuring 4395mm long, 1735mm wide, 1690mm tall and riding on a 2740mm wheelbase, the Ertiga seats seven people across three rows. It's based on the Heartect platform underpinning the latest Baleno and Swift.

Boot space is limited to 153 litres when all the seats are up. As a five-seater luggage volume increases to 550L, while storage jumps to 803L with both the second and third row folded.

The Ertiga is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine generating 77kW of power and 138Nm of torque. This motor drives the front wheels via either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.

All models ride on 15-inch wheels with 185/65 tyres. Stopping ability comes courtesy of a front disc, rear drum package, and there's MacPherson strut suspension up front and a torsion beam setup at the rear.

Top-of-the-range models feature a 6.8-inch touchscreen, a four-speaker audio system, keyless entry, push button start, a tilt-adjustable steering column, leather steering wheel, ventilated cup holders, faux wood trim, split folding second and third row seats, parking sensors, LED tail-lamps, and alloy wheels.

On the safety front, the new Ertiga features dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, electronic brake-force distribution, and ISOFIX anchorage points.

Originally developed for the people mover-mad Indonesian market, the Ertiga is sold throughout much of south-east Asia and the Indian subcontinent.
