Chinese brand Wey has revealed its latest creation – the X – an autonomous electric SUV concept bound for the 2018 Beijing motor show.
While full details are yet to be revealed, the company has confirmed the X features artificial intelligence (AI) along with vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) technologies.
The Wey X is claimed to offer Level 5 autonomy, meaning there's no need for traditional driver controls like a steering wheel or pedals as the vehicle is capable of controlling itself entirely without human inputs.
Haval's premium arm claims the AI system has the ability of "a highly trained human driver, in scenarios including dirt roads and bad weather".
Inside, the Wey X has done away with traditional buttons and dials, and employs a full biometric identification system – meaning each registered user of the vehicle and create their own setup for the vehicle, like the seats, music preferences and navigation information.
Stay tuned for more details of the Wey X at the vehicle's official debut at the 2018 Beijing motor show.
