2017 Kia Rio recalled for door lock fix

More than 1700 cars caught in cable tangle

Kia has recalled the 2017 'YB' Rio, over concerns the rear door lock assembly could be out of specification.

According to the company, the rear door lock cable might be the wrong length, which could mean seemingly active child locks aren't activated.

If occupants are able to open the doors from the inside when they shouldn't be, there's a heightened risk of accidents for the driver and other road users.

A total of 1721 vehicles is included – a VIN list is attached here.

Owners of the affected cars will be contacted by mail, and advised to arrange an inspection with their nearest dealer.
