2019 Jaguar XE and XF unveiled, 300 Sport added to range – UPDATE

Punchier models here for one year only

Jaguar has announced the 2019 model-year upgrades for its XE, XF and XF Sportbrake, headlined by the addition of new four-cylinder, all-wheel drive 300 Sport models.

Although there are a number of minor tweaks to the base XE and XF package, the biggest news is the 300 Sport. Available in both compact and mid-size sedan form, the new model borrows its four-cylinder engine from the F-Type, and adds all-wheel drive to the mix.

With 221kW and 400Nm on tap, the XE 300 Sport will run to 100km/h in 5.7 seconds, and tops out at 250km/h.

In the XF, buyers can choose between the four-cylinder petrol or a V6 twin-turbo diesel engine making the same amount of power and a whopping 700Nm of torque. The diesel is rear-wheel drive only, presumably because of packaging constraints – the petrol hits triple figures in 5.9 seconds, while the diesel manages the benchmark sprint in 6.4 seconds.

Wagon lovers will be pleased to know both 300 Sport variants will be offered in Sportbrake guise, too.

You'll be able to distinguish 300 Sport models from their more basic brethren by looking for their satin grey exterior trim pieces, unique badges and 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, you'll notice contrast stitching, along with 300 Sport branding on the door trims, floor mats and headrests.

Jaguar will offer the XF 300 Sport in Yulong White, Indus Silver and Santorini Black, while the XE 300 Sport also comes in Caldera Red. Both models will only be available for a single model year, with details about an Australian arrival still to be confirmed – stay tuned.

Along with the special editions, the wider XE and XF ranges have been upgraded with the bigger 10-inch Touch Pro infotainment system as standard. There's a new rear-view mirror (seriously) and more chrome trim, along with plusher carpets.

Australia

The XE 300 Sport and XF 300 Sport will be included in the 2019 model lines in Australia. The first examples will touch down in the fourth quarter of this year, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.
