Dodge Demon hunter claiming 8.5-second quarter-mile
The 2018 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet has been teased in a frontal rendering, ahead of a full reveal in the northern hemisphere's summer.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Ford's pony car, the Cobra Jet will be limited to just 68 units and available in two colours – Race Red or Oxford White.
Ford has confirmed the Mustang Cobra Jet will feature a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 tuned by Ford Performance. While outputs are yet to be confirmed, the Blue Oval claims the "most powerful and quickest version" of its sports car will run the quarter-mile in the "mid-8-second range" while hitting 150mph (241km/h) over the same distance.
Other features will include unique four-link rear suspension, a 9.0-inch solid rear axle from Strange Engineering, a roll cage certified by the NHRA, Racetech FIA seats, drag-race specific coilover suspension, and specially-designed Weld Racing wheels with 50th anniversary badging.
The Mustang Cobra Jet will also sport a 50th anniversary graphics package and special badging.

Full details of the Ford Mustang Cobra Jet will be released when the new model is officially revealed during the northern hemisphere summer – which starts in June.
