Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti coming Down Under

206kW SUV headed to Australia later this year

Alfa Romeo will bring the more powerful Stelvio Ti offered in overseas markets to Australia later this year.

With power from the same 206kW/400Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine as the Giulia Veloce, the Ti sprints to 100km/h in 5.7 seconds – 1.5 seconds faster than the base petrol Stelvio, and 0.9 seconds faster than the diesel – on its way to a 230km/h top speed.

Power will be put to all four wheels through the same eight-speed automatic transmission as the wider range.

Although claimed performance is better than the base petrol, the spec sheet sent to CarAdvice has the car's fuel economy listed at the same 7.0L/100km.

Along with the punchier engine, the Ti rides on 20-inch alloy wheels and gains red brake calipers. Frequency Selective Damping by Koni will be standard, along with a rear limited-slip differential.

Inside, the standard front seats have been turfed in favour of heated sports units, working with a heated steering wheel to make winter mornings a bit easier. When summer rolls around, rear seat passengers will appreciate the now-standard privacy glass.

Rounding out the package are aluminium sports pedals, adaptive cruise control and a 10-speaker surround sound system. These specifications bolster the standard equipment list of the 'base' Stelvio, which includes an 8.8-inch central touchscreen, navigation, leather seats, push-button start and keyless entry, auto-dimming mirrors and a power tailgate.

Standard active safety features include lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, autonomous emergency braking, and a rear-view camera.

At this point, full pricing and specifications for the Stelvio Ti haven't been announced for our market. Fiat Chrysler Australia has confirmed the new model will be here later this year, with more specific timing to be confirmed.

Stay tuned for all the latest on Stelvio Ti in the lead-up to its local launch.
