2019 BMW Z4 interior spied with less camouflage

New roadster enters home straight before launch

The next-generation BMW Z4 has been spied again, but this time with its down and with the interior featuring significantly less camouflage than before.

Compared to the photos taken in May 2017, this image gives us a clear view of the centre tunnel and console, the steering wheel, and instrumentation area.

Overall, the design doesn't seem to diverge too far from the established BMW playbook, although the Z4's instrumentation pane features a completely digital display, with a design similar to what was unveiled at its recent Digital Day 2018 event.

As we already know, the next-generation Z4 and the upcoming Toyota Supra are being jointly developed, and will be built under contract alongside one another at Magna Steyr's factory in Graz, Austria.

Last week our spy photography agency managed to grab some pictures of the new Supra's cabin. While that car will feature many components from the BMW parts bin, it looks as though the two cars will have separate interior designs.

The Supra features a steering wheel with a large 86-style centre section, a different setup for its instrumentation area, a unique shift lever, metal-trimmed vents, and a different set of climate controls.

Externally, the new Z4 seems to be only slightly toned down from the Z4 Concept unveiled at last year's Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

While today's prototype features an automatic transmission, the vehicle spied last May had a manual gearbox.

A recent report suggested the new Z4 will debut just before the 2018 Paris motor show in October.
