Honda EV concepts, Acura CDX Hybrid confirmed for Beijing

Japanese brand's stand to be electrifying

Honda has released initial details of its exhibit for the Beijing motor show later this month, including world premieres of two new concepts and the reveal of the Acura CDX Hybrid.

The Japanese manufacturer will have a joint booth for both of its partner ventures in the Chinese market – Dongfeng Honda and GAC Honda – headlined by a concept previewing an upcoming China-exclusive EV model, and an all-new sedan concept, which at this stage remains unnamed.

In addition to the pair of concepts, the new Accord Hybrid (US model shown) will make it Chinese market debut.

Meanwhile, luxury arm Acura has confirmed it will debut its CDX Hybrid for the first time (shown above in standard form), adding a new variant to the HRV-based line-up.

Currently, the CDX is offered in China with a 1.5-litre turbo four mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic, with outputs rated at 134kW and 240Nm.

It's likely the hybrid system will be based on that of the Japanese-market Vezel Hybrid (HR-V), which teams a 97kW/156Nm 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor. Shifting gears is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The Beijing motor show will also see the Chinese premiere of the RDX Prototype (above), previewing the production model due in China later this year.
