Buick Enspire concept revealed

Electric crossover revealed ahead of Beijing motor show

The Buick Enspire concept has been revealed ahead of the 2018 Beijing motor show, which kicks off next week.

Although Buick is yet to provide full details about the Enspire's electric drivetrain, we know it generates a total of 410kW of power. That's reportedly good for a 0-60mph (0-97km/h) time of 4.0 seconds.

With the battery fully charged, Buick claims the Enspire can travel up to 595 kilometres before needing a charge. The concept supports both wireless and fast charging, with the latter capable of topping the battery up to 80 per cent within 40 minutes.

The interior features "suspended" theatre-style seats, and a centre console and armrests clad in real wood trim and microfibre suede.

On the technology front, the Enspire concept includes an OLED display, augmented reality head-up display, and 5G mobile internet connectivity.

We expect more details about the Enspire to come out when the car is given its real-world debut in Beijing next week.

Given China has strong incentives for buyers to buy electric, as well as sales quotas for manufacturers to hit, it's likely something broadly based on the Enspire will enter production in the near term. It's not clear if the Enspire will be sold in other markets, though.
