Mitsubishi Triton facelift spied again

Dynamic Shield, nice to see you!

The upcoming Mitsubishi Triton facelift has been spied again, wearing the brand's distinctive Dynamic Shield face in place of the more mundane current look.

This latest set of images was taken in the Flinders Ranges, two hours north of Port Augusta, South Australia, and published on Robert Pepper's Facebook page.

Given Mitsubishi Australia is headquartered in South Australia, that location shouldn't come as a surprise. The way it looks also shouldn't come as a surprise, given the (controversial) Dynamic Shield design has been applied to the Eclipse Cross, ASX, related Pajero Sport and Outlander.

The current model was launched in 2014, and eschewed the family face for a different, equally chrome-heavy look.

Although it's not quite a Pajero Sport face, the split headlight and foglight treatment will be familiar to anyone who's seen a modern Mitsubishi or one of the company's recent concepts – like the Grand Tourer GT-PHEV revealed at the 2016 Paris motor show.

Keen-eyed spotters will also notice the squared-off wheel arches, which have lost their rounded flares, and it appears the tail-lights will be revised too. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming months.

Cheers to Dennis for the tip!
