2018 Lexus LS pricing and specs

Japanese luxury flagship arrives from $190,500

Australian pricing and specifications for the 2018 Lexus LS range have been announced this week, with the all-new limousine to kick off from $190,500 before on-road costs.

Offered in two trim levels and with two powertrain choices, the Lexus LS starts just under $5000 dearer than its predecessor, while also dropping all forms of V8 power from the line-up in favour of two V6 options.

For the first time, turbo power will feature in the form of the LS500's 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 (though it displaces exactly 3444cc), which develops a meaty 310kW of power at 6000rpm, and 600Nm of torque between 1600 and 4800 rpm. Drive is sent to the rear wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The LS500 claims a 0-100km/h time of 5.0 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 250km/h.

Meanwhile, the usual hybrid option comes in the form of the LS500h, which features a naturally-aspirated 220kW/350Nm 3.5-litre V6 teamed with a 132kW/300Nm electric motor, making for a combined power output of 264kW – though a combined torque figure isn't quoted.

Drive is sent to the ground via a multi-stage hybrid transmission that mimics a 10-speed auto.

Despite being down on power compared to its petrol-only equivalent, the LS500h still manages the benchmark sprint in a respectable 5.4 seconds on its way to a 250km/h top whack.

Kicking off the two-tier range is the F Sport ($190,500) which is the same price regardless of powertrain chosen.

Equipment highlights include 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/45 front and 275/40 rear run-flat tyres, adaptive air suspension, dual-zone climate control, four-wheel steering, keyless entry and start, three 12V power sockets, sports seats trimmed in smooth leather, 28-way power/pneumatic adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, along with aluminium sports pedals.

There's also an 8.0-inch TFT driver's display, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, head-up display, four USB ports, a 23-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound system, tri-LED headlights with adaptive high-beam and scrolling indicators, LED daytime-running lights, cornering lights, heated auto-dimming and auto-folding exterior mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, and an automatic bootlid.

Safety is covered by the Lexus Safety System+ suite, which includes all-speed adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and lane-keep assist. All variants also feature blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, tyre pressure monitoring, and a pop-up bonnet.

The Sports Luxury ($195,900), meanwhile, adds four-zone climate control, 22-way adjustable rear seats with passenger-side ottoman, massaging function for the front and passenger-side rear seats, semi-aniline leather upholstery, a rear entertainment system with dual 11.6-inch displays, and different 20-inch wheels with noise-dissipating technology.

Other additions include power sunshades for the rear, rear-side and quarter-light windows, and several unique hand-crafted interior ornamentation options – four of which command a $9880 premium.

It's worth noting the Sports Luxury grade drops the F Sport's four-wheel steering and active stabiliser bars, jet black exterior highlights and black brake calipers with Lexus badging.

As part of the launch, Lexus has also announced a new 10-year complimentary roadside assistance program for LS owners.
