Genesis Essentia: Our chat with designer Sasha Selipanov
Paul Maric gets the lowdown on the new concept
Unveiled at the 2018 New York motor show, the Genesis Essentia is one of the most eye-catching, exciting concept cars we've seen this year.
It has a pure-electric powertrain good for a 3.0-second 60mph (97km/h) sprint, buried under a classically-proportioned exterior.
Along with the typically flashy concept butterfly doors, the interior is a showcase for how Genesis wants to shape its next generation of vehicles. There's an 8.0-inch driver display, and a flashy mix of materials on board – tan and blue leather, 3D carbon-fibre and velvet all feature.
