2011 Kia Cerato Hatch Unveiled

It doesn't seem all that long ago that the Kia Cerato sedan made its first appearance. It was quickly followed up with the Kia Cerato Koup and soon the Cerato range will have  a more practical five-door hatch variant that will no doubt help boost sales.

The Kia Cerato five-door is based on the sedan platform but is sitting lower and comes with some exterior differences.

As well as carrying over all details form the sedan, there is a new front grille, unique alloy wheels, updated centre console, steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters, push-button start and in some markets even satellite-navigation (not for Australia yet).

Worldwide the Kia Cerato is powered by three different petrol engines: a 1.6-litre, 2.0-litre or 2.4-litre. All engines are mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Australian buyers will only get to see the 1.6 and 2.0-litre variants as the 2.4-litre is destined for North American consumers only.

Kia Australia says the new Cerato 5-door hatch is destined for an Australian launch in October.

No local specification or pricing will be available until that time.
