2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace specs announced

More seats for mid-size VW SUV

Volkswagen has detailed specifications for its incoming 2018 Tiguan Allspace range, with pricing to be announced when the car touches down in July, 2018.

The seven-seat crossover, described as a 5+2 by Volkswagen, will be offered in 110TSI (110kW/250Nm), 132TSI (132kW/320Nm) and 110TDI (110kW/340Nm) Comfortline grade, or 140TDI (140kW/400Nm) and 162TSI (162kW/350Nm) Highline guise.

The base 110TSI petrol engine is front-wheel drive only, paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the rest of the range runs with 4Motion all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch.

Comfortline cars will come as standard with city-speed auto-emergency braking, park assistance, a rear-view camera and parking sensors at both ends. An electronic tailgate is also standard, supported by keyless entry.

Automatic, dynamic LED headlights, electric folding mirrors and rain-sensing windscreen wipers are also included.

Inside, an 8.0-inch 'Discover Media' infotainment system with App Connect and three USB ports is standard, along with three-zone climate control.

The car rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, and silver-painted mirrors are included.

Along with the equipment listed above, Highline cars get adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alerts and adaptive chassis control.

Electrically adjustable front seats are standard, as are heated front and outboard second-row pews. All three rows are trimmed in leather. The 8.0-inch infotainment from base cars has been traded for a 9.2-inch Discover Pro system with satellite navigation.

19-inch alloys wheels are standard, as are 'premium' LED taillights.

There are a few options, starting with the Driver Assistance Package. It adds rear-cross traffic alerts and blind-spot monitoring, dynamic lighting and adaptive cruise control to base cars. There's also a Luxury Package for the Comfortline, which adds leather trim, electrically-adjustable heated front seats and a panoramic sunroof.

The Sound and Vision Package is optional on both trim grades, and adds an active info display, premium audio and a surround-view camera.

Finally, the R-Line Package adds a sportier bodykit, a black rear spoiler, 20-inch wheels, R-Line leather seats, brushed stainless steel pedals, a unique steering wheel and brushed metal kick plates to the Highline.

Watch for pricing to be confirmed as the Tiguan Allspace nears its July launch.
