Rolls-Royce reveals limited edition Wraith Luminary Collection

Let there be light

Master of bespoke-built automobiles, Rolls-Royce, has announced its latest ultra-exclusive edition with the 55-unit Wraith Luminary Collection.

In response to demand for the brand’s ‘Collection Cars’ the Luminary Collection vehicles are the result of Rolls-Royce Bespoke, which specialises in high-dollar customisations.

The headline act of the Luminary Collection is a new Sunburst Grey exterior colour, a solid grey finish with a copper flake that “enlivens when awoken by the sun” complimented by a hand painted coach-line with a sunburst detail.

Inside, the Wraith debuts a new intricate shooting star headliner, which takes the hand-woven fibre optic starlight headliner available on other Rolls-Royce models and adds, for the first time, eight randomly firing shooting star effects above the front seats.

The interior of the Luminary cars features Saddlery Tan leather front seats with Anthracite or optional Seashell-colouring for the rears. Contrast piping is used to “masterfully marry” the distinct colourways.

A new hand-woven stainless steel fabric constructed of strands measuring between 0.08mm to 0.19mm in diameter adorns the transmission tunnel and door panniers, oriented at 45 degrees and mounted so as to refract light.

One final touch to the Luminary theme is Rolls-Royce’s first implementation of illuminated Tudor Wood, with a perforated shooting star finish that allows light from 176 embedded LEDs to pass through the panelling mounted to the interior of the Wraith’s rear-hinged coach doors.

Each car will be capped off with a hand-polished stainless steel Wraith Luminary Collection plaque declaring the car as “one of fifty-five”.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, the CEO of Rolls-Royce said of the new edition: “Wraith Luminary is a stunning Collection Car. It speaks directly of our contemporary Rolls-Royce brand – progressive and trailblazing; the pinnacle in hand-crafted luxury. This is a motor car that celebrates visionaries who achieve eminence in their respective fields. Indeed, this collection is for the world’s luminaries.”

As a showcase for Bespoke’s paint and trim customisation talents expect the Wraith to continue with the regular Wraith’s 6.6-litre twin turbo V12 engine producing 465kW and 800Nm, tied to an eight-speed automatic.
