Pirelli selling tyres for Ferrari 250 GTO

Meeting the needs of classic car collectors

Everyone has been there – you take your multi-million-dollar classic Ferrari to TyrePower for new rubber, only to discover the only choices are designed for mid-size crossovers and light hatchbacks. No-one wants to put tyres involving the words 'eco' or 'efficient' on their 250 GTO, for example.

Thankfully, Pirelli has swooped in with a solution to this working-class problem. The company is producing 40 sets of tyres specifically homologated for the iconic Ferrari 250 GTO, aimed at owners looking for more grip during revival events.

The tyres are called 'Stelvio Corsa' and maintain (mostly) period-correct looks, but they're designed to deliver modern levels of grip and wear resistance.

Pirelli's engineering team used the same parameters as their period counterparts, and turned to archived images while designing the modern versions. The 2018 iterations are also more environmentally friendly than the originals, with no aromatic oils on board.

The tyres will only be offered in 215/70R15 98W up front and 225/70R15 100W at the back. No other sizes are available – no, you can't have a set for your Golf or CX-5 – and they'll only be sold to 250 GTO owners.
