BMW Australia has confirmed pricing and specifications for the X2 sDrive 18i and xDrive20d models, bringing the local line-up to three variants.
Due by the middle of the year, the new variants follow the sDrive20i launch variant, which arrives in showrooms this month priced from $55,900 before on-road costs.
When it arrives in a few months time, the new entry-level sDrive18i will bring the price of entry down by $6000 to $49,900 plus ORCs.
Powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol shared with the related Mini range, the sDrive18i develops 103kW of power and 220Nm of torque, sending drive to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The 0-100km/h dash takes 9.6 seconds in the base model.
Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights with cornering lights, LED fog-lights, high-beam assist, rain-sensing wipers, an automatic tailgate, Sensatec interior upholstery, a sports leather steering wheel, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, Driving Assistant – speed limit info, lane-departure warning and forward collision warning – along with DAB+ digital radio.
There’s also a 5.0-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation and real-time traffic updates, six-speaker audio system, 12V power sockets for rear passengers, and Oxide Silver dark matte interior trim inserts.
Meanwhile, the xDrive20d will be the only all-wheel drive variant in the local range, powered by a 140kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel. Shifting gears is an eight-speed torque converter auto. The diesel matches the sDrive20i’s 7.7-second sprint from 0-100km/h.
Specification for the flagship diesel mirrors that of the front-wheel drive sDrive20i, which means features include the M Sport X package (M Sport no-cost option), 19-inch M light-alloy wheels, ‘Hexagon’ Alcantara cloth upholstery with contrasting yellow stitching, front sports seats, BMW Individual anthracite headliner, and the Shadow Line high-gloss black exterior package.
Other equipment highlights include M Sport suspension, an M leather steering wheel, climate control air-conditioning, the interior lights package, and an upgraded rear-view mirror with anti-dazzle function.
The BMW X2 sDrive20i is now on sale, with the sDrive18i and xDrive20d to arrive in local showrooms by mid-2018.
