Corvette ZR1: 0-60mph in 2.85 seconds

Product manager confirms manic performance figures

Chevrolet has touted the 2019 Corvette ZR1 has the "fastest, most powerful production Corvette ever" – but we didn't realise just how much faster it is than previous iterations.

According to a new report, Harlan Charles, product manager for Corvette, confirmed with CorvetteBlogger the ZR1 is capable of some serious acceleration times.

How serious? Try 0-60mph (0-96km/h) in just 2.85 seconds. How about 0-100mph (0-161km/h)? Just 6.0 seconds flat.

That puts the rear-wheel driven Corvette ZR1 in the same ballpark as the hypercar elite – think Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder.

Additionally, Charles told the publication the ZR1 can complete the quarter mile in just 10.6 seconds at 134mph (215km/h).

While Chevrolet is yet to confirm these figures in an official press release, it's expected the company will make some form of announcement soon given the first ZR1s are already on their way to dealers in the US.

The Corvette ZR1 is powered by a 6.2-litre 'LT5' supercharged V8 generating 563kW (755hp) of power and 969Nm of torque.

Both seven-speed manual and eight-speed automatic transmissions are offered, with top speed rated at "over 210mph" (338km/h).
