Bentley offers biometric lockbox in Bentayga

Fingerprint security for your valuables

Most cars have a lockable glovebox, and maybe some kind of security in the centre console. For most owners, that isn't a problem.

As you've probably gathered by now, the Bentley Bentayga isn't most carsand the brand's average buyers aren't most owners

That's why there's a new biometric lockbox for the centre armrest, designed to "stow valuables while at the beach, on the ski slope or utilising valet parking services".

The lockbox itself is a high-pressure aluminium storage unit, complete with a fingerprint sensor, two USB ports and an auxiliary plug. Those ports can be used to charge and play from devices in or outside the box, while the fingerprint sensor is similar to those you'd find on your smartphone.

"The Mulliner Biometric Secure Stowage unit is hidden from view. We are incorporating the familiar capacitive fingerprint sensor technology from smartphones that can store multiple fingerprints, allowing the user to control who accesses their valuables,” Uday Senapati, head of technical operations for Bentley's coachbuilding arm, Mulliner, said.

Bentley hasn't provided details about how big the box actually is, but based on the images provided (see above) you're fairly limited for space. Along with your watch, there's space for a phone or wallet.
