2019 Ford Mondeo spied

Updated mid-sizer snapped in the snow

The facelifted Ford Mondeo has been spied on an ice track in Sweden this week, giving us a first look at the mid-life refresh of the Blue Oval's medium car.

Earlier this week the Mondeo's North American twin, the Fusion, was revealed in facelifted 2019 guise – and it appears the Euro-market equivalent is in line for a similar treatment.

Like the Fusion, the Mondeo's visual changes will be limited to minor revisions at the front and rear, updated head- and tail-light graphics, and the wider availability of the company's driver-assistance technologies.

Dubbed Ford Co-Pilot 360, the systems include autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring and lane-keep assist amongst others. The company recently announced plans to rollout the safety suite across more models and variants in the coming years.

It's believed the Mondeo will get an updated hybrid option like the Fusion too, involving a larger 9.0kWh lithium-ion battery pack allowing for an all-electric driving range of around 40 kilometres – we likely won't see this option in Australia, however.

Ford is expected to reveal the new Mondeo later this year, potentially at the Paris motor show in October. With that in mind, expect an Australian arrival mid- to late-2019. Click the photos tab for more images
