Kia Picanto GT-Line confirmed for Australia
Sporty micro hatch to arrive in the coming months
The sport-themed Kia Picanto GT-Line has been confirmed for an Australian launch in the coming months, set to sit atop the micro car range locally.
While pricing is yet to be released, the GT-Line will essentially mirror the specification of the limited-run AO Edition released in January, meaning a body kit, dual exhaust tips, 16-inch alloy wheels, projector headlights with LED daytime-running lights, LED tail-lights, 'premium' leather-look/cloth seats with red accents, and alloy sports pedals are part of the deal.
That's on top of the entry-level 'S' variant's autonomous emergency braking with forward collision warning, rear-view camera with rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, bluetooth phone and audio streaming, USB and AUX inputs, along with a multifunction steering wheel.
Being a "GT-Line' and not a 'GT', the top-spec Picanto will be powered by the same 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated inline four as the standard car, with outputs of 62kW (at 6000rpm) and 122Nm (at 4000rpm).
It's unclear whether the GT-Line will be offered locally in both manual and automatic versions, but going by the AO Edition it will likely be available solely with the four-speed self-shifter.
