2019 BMW X3 M spied
New M SUV shreds the white stuff
The BMW X3 M has been spied again, this time during cold weather testing – previewing Munich's rival to the Mercedes-AMG GLC63.
How do we know it's an X3 M? There are a few cues, most notable being the BMW M shifter and M1/M2 buttons protruding from the steering wheel. Both those elements were debuted on the F90 M5.
The front end, side skirts, and rear are all heavily camouflaged, but you can reasonably expect to see more aggressive air intakes at the front, sculpted skirts and a faux-diffuser with quad-exhaust outlets at the back. There's also black and white tape obstructing the mirrors, suggesting the aero-style mirrors from current M cars will carry over.
Power is expected to come from the new S58 straight-six engine mooted to be coming in the next-generation M3 and M4.
Although there's no hard-and-fast word on how much power it'll make, we'd suggest the Mercedes-AMG GLC63 and its 375kW could be a good benchmark.
At the moment, the most powerful X3 is the M40i, with 265kW and 500Nm of torque from 3.0-litre inline-six engine.
