All-electric racer is on the way

Audi has teased an upcoming racing concept, complete with an aggressive aerodynamics package and pure-electric power.

The Vision GT will be joining the Gran Turismo Sport video game roster on April 9, following on from similar virtual concepts from the likes of Subaru, Citroen and Bugatti.

Graphics on the aero-style wheels reveal the car will draw on e-tron electric power, while the 'quattro' graphics indicate it will be all-wheel drive.

As you can probably see, the racer will feature a huge, angular rear wing and massive diffuser at the back, along with an ankle-breaking splitter at the front. There's a hint of the R8 supercar in the side profile, although the Vision is definitely its own beast.

Speaking of the R8, Audi has dipped its toe in the water with electric-supercars before. The current-generation R8 was once offered in e-tron guise, but poor sales and high costs killed the project.

Beyond the electrified R8, Audi Sport has promised battery-boosted vehicles from 2020 onwards.
