2019 Volvo S60 leaked

All-new sedan spotted in Sweden

The next-generation Volvo S60 has been spied completely undisguised in Sweden, with a single image posted online this week.

Published by Swedish site Teknikens Värld, the picture doesn't offer too many surprises – the car basically looks like a shrunken S90.

We only have this rear three-quarter angle at the moment, though we'd expect the face to be identical to that of the recently-launched V60 wagon (below).

Considering its close ties to the V60 and XC60, the S60 will almost certainly grab its powertrains from its siblings as well.

That means only four-cylinder engines with turbos and/or supercharging, along with the option of electric assistance in the form of plug-in hybrids (PHEV).

At launch, the V60 will be offered in 110kW/320Nm D3 and 140kW/400Nm D4 turbo-diesel form, or with a 228kW/400Nm T6 petrol, along with both the 251KW/590Nm T6 and 288kW/640Nm T8 PHEVs.

It's believed the new S60 will be officially revealed later this year, likely following the unveil of the new V60 Cross Country – so a debut in the second half of 2018 seems most probable.

We'd expect the S60 to be a sure starter for Australia, though a decision for the related V60 hasn't been made.

Volvo only sold 12 S60 sedans in February, but considering the Mercedes-Benz C-Class bettered the ageing current model by over 40-fold, the Swedish marque may want to claw back some sales from the popular German.
