BMW i4 confirmed for production

New EV previewed by last year's i Vision Dynamics concept

BMW's boss has used the Geneva motor show to confirm the all-electric i4 will become part of the company's portfolio by 2025.

Harald Krüger, chairman of the board of management for BMW AG, made the announcement at the Geneva event, adding the new offering will be one of many upcoming electrified models.

"By 2025, our global vehicle portfolio will include 25 fully- or part-electric models," he said.

"At last year’s Frankfurt motor show, we unveiled our take on the future of e‑mobility with the BMW i Vision Dynamics. This vehicle will become reality: we will build it in Munich – as the BMW i4."

When it was revealed, the i Vision Dynamics concept was described by BMW as "a dynamic and progressive, four-door Gran Coupe" that will be the "future [of] electric mobility between the i3 and i8".

The futuristic concept could dash from 0-100km/h in around 4.0 seconds, hit a top whack in excess of 200km/h, and cover up to 600km on a single charge.

We reckon the production i4 will boast similar performance figures, and potentially offer a lower-powered entry-level version or smaller battery pack.
