2019 BMW M8 spied

Upcoming coupe flagship snapped in the snow

The BMW M8 has been spied again this week, getting a quick refuel in snowy Sweden.

It appears BMW's upcoming M Division flagship is edging closer to production specification, flaunting different bumpers and massive quad-tailpipes compared to previous prototypes.

Behind the large alloy wheels we can see huge brake discs complimented by gold-painted calipers, while the black-and-white camouflage conceals most of the finer body details.

The M8 is expected to feature a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet – likely similar to the 441kW/750Nm unit used in the new M5 – meaning performance should suitably punchy.

We reckon it will feature the same rear-biased M xDrive all-wheel drive system and eight-speed ZF auto as the M5 too, which should translate to a sub-3.5-second sprint from 0-100km/h.

Further clues to the M8's final design were previewed by the M8 Gran Coupe concept at the Geneva motor show this week, though no details were given about the new model's powertrain.

BMW is yet to confirm a reveal/launch date for the M8 or the 8 Series on which it's based, so stay tuned to CarAdvice for more coverage over the coming months.
