Subaru Viziv Tourer Concept revealed

Wagon dreams coming true in Geneva

Subaru has unveiled the latest addition to its ever-expanding lineup of Viziv show-cars, revealing the Viziv Tourer Concept in Geneva.

Just like the concepts preceding it, the Viziv Tourer is unlikely to be a pure flight of fancy from Subaru. Its past show-cars closely previewed the Ascent, and elements of previous Viziv studies have found their way into the production Impreza and Outback.

There's no concrete indication of what the Tourer will become, but its proportions – 2730mm wheelbase, underpinning a 4775mm long, 1930mm wide and 1435mm tall body – are all slightly larger than those of the current-generation Levorg.

Given the Liberty wagon is dead and the Outback has just been refreshed, we'd suggest the replacement for the Levorg will look something like this. With hawkish eyes, a slim glasshouse and strong haunches, that would be good news – the concept is a looker, that's for sure.

Power comes from a boxer engine of unspecified outputs, putting its power to the road through (you guessed it) a symmetrical all-wheel drive system. Subaru is nothing if not consistent.

Along with the EyeSight camera-based driver assists, the concept packs a radar and 'highly-accurate' GPS for more capable driver assists. Once again, the exact nature of those assists remains to be seen.

Fans will of course be hoping the concept marks a return to cars like the fourth-generation Liberty wagon. With European-inspired styling, a balanced chassis and a typically well-put-together interior, it remains a favourite for petrolheads and P-platers alike.
