Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro revealed

3.0G in the corners, 360km/h on the straights

Regular Aston Martin Valkyrie look too timid for you? Chasing a proper racing experience, but not keen on an actual race car? Meet the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, ready to crush tuned MX-5s and BRZs at your next track day.

Okay, so it isn't really aimed at the amateur track set. Breathe easy, your Miata is safe. The AMR Pro designed to translate LMP1 or F1 performance to a language mere mortals can understand, provided they have the money to buy in. On looks alone, it seems capable.

Power comes from a hybrid-augmented 6.5-litre V12 making more than 1100hp (820kW). Sitting alongside the car's 1000kg kerb weight, that power figure gives the car a power-to-weight ratio better than 1:1 – as in, there's 1hp for every 1kg.

That skimpy weight figure has been achieved by the absence of a heater or de-mister, infotainment screens and polycarbonate windows and a windscreens.

The engine breathes through a lightweight exhaust system in the AMR Pro, while carbon-fibre has been used for the suspension wishbones and moulded race seats. Frills? No sir, not here.

Almost every single panel on the exterior has been reshaped to develop more downforce. The bodywork is wider than stock, and the front and rear wings have been made bigger than before. The result of all Aston Martin's tweaks are clear: the AMR Pro develops more than 1000kg of downforce at speed.

Downforce and outright speed aren't natural bedfellows, but the Valkyrie AMR Pro isn't exactly slow. Actually, it's really fast, with a claimed 360km/h top speed. Perhaps more relevant is the claimed 3.0G the car will apparently pull in the corners, a number "far beyond that of any other car derived from a fully-homologated road car".

"Seeing the Valkyrie AMR Pro and this year’s Aston Martin Red Bull Racing F1TM show car together at Geneva is a special moment for me," Adrian Newey, legendary F1 designer and Red Bull Racing chief technical officer, said of the AMR Pro.

"The Aston Martin Valkyrie road car draws extensively from the knowledge I have gained during my career in Formula One, but the AMR Pro version has allowed me to work beyond the constraints of road legality, or indeed practicality!

"We’ve told a few of its secrets, but by no means all. I will leave it to the public to ponder the lap time predictions. Suffice to say they’re quite impressive.”

Just 25 examples of the AMR Pro will be built, with no word on pricing. Suffice to say, if you need to ask you definitely can't afford one.
