The reveal comes hot on the heels of the updated Mercedes-Benz-badged 'regular' C-Class range.
Headlining the MY18 upgrades are engine tweaks - notably a bigger turbo, lifted from the E43 - to the 3.0-litre V6 powertrain, which now puts out 287kW of power and 520Nm of torque, the latter between 2500 and 5000rpm.
Despite this 17kW power bump, the 0-100km/h sprint time for the sedan remains 4.7 seconds, or 4.8s for the wagon.
The C43’s engine is again mated to a nine-speed TCT transmission allowing rapid multiple downshifts and double de-clutching, plus a paddle-operated manual mode.
Channeling torque to the road is a carried-over 4MATIC AWD system with a 69 per cent rear axle bias. You also get electronically actuated adaptive dampers and speed-sensitive electromechanical steering.
Adjustments of the dampers, steering resistance, throttle response, stability control parameters and gearbox shift points are done by scrolling through the car’s drive modes, from comfort to sports and sports +. There’s a new snow mode called ‘slippery’.
Styling upgrades include a new silver AMG radiator grille with two louvres and a revised front apron. You can option grey, gloss black or matt black wheels. The rear diffuser and quad pipes are new as well.
Cabin highlights include a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with AMG-specific displays, showing the car’s setup, engine status and data, G-forces through corners and a race timer. It can be complemented by the HUD.
The top-of-the-range centre screen measures 10.25-inches and has a 1920 x 720 px resolution.
There’s also a new steering wheel design from the S-Class and CLS, featuring touch control buttons, with active cruise control now operated via the left spoke. Cabin trims include (black, brown or red) leather seats with cooling, Dinamica microfibre and aluminium.
Trim options include anthracite open pore oak wood or walnut, or aluminium for the doors and black open pore ash wood for the console. On top of this there is the familiar AMG trim in carbon fibre/aluminium/matt silver fibreglass.
One headline option is the Energizing Comfort system that combines the AC, cabin lighting, seat temperature and music type to create an ambience. This system scans your music for tunes with the right beat-per-minute rate.
The Mercedes-AMG C43 range updates will hit Australia around October this year, with pricing to be similar to the current models’ $102,611 (sedan) and $105,112 (wagon).
