Abarth 695 Rivale revealed
Hot hatch + boat company = yacht hatch?
The Abarth 695 Rivale has been revealed for the Geneva motor show, representing the latest in a series of boutique special editions of the Italian hot hatch.
Developed in partnership with world-famous Italian boat maker, Riva, the 695 Rivale is dubbed "the most sophisticated of all Abarth creations and the perfect blend of elegance and performance".
Available in both hatchback and convertible guises, the Rivale gets an exclusive two-tone Riva Blue on Grey paint with aquamarine striping – the latter inspired by the 'beauty lines' on yachts.
Satin chrome accents adorn the door handles and tailgate, while '695 Rivale' badging reminds others you're driving a very special Abarth.
Other exterior appointments include 17-inch 'Supersport' alloy wheels finished in a unique glossy grey, Brembo brakes with black calipers, an Akrapovic exhaust system with carbon-trimmed tailpipes, and Abarth by Koni suspension with adaptive dampers.
Inside, the 695 Rivale appears to get the choice of a carbon-fibre dashboard insert or a wood one – according to images on the UK website – while beautiful blue leather covers the seats and door inserts. There's also a 7.0-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Under the bonnet is a 1.4-litre turbo four developing 134kW of power and 250Nm of torque. Abarth claims a 0-100km/h sprint in 6.7 seconds (6.9 for the robotised sequential auto), on its way to a top speed of 140mph (225km/h).

Speaking with CarAdvice, Dave Harding, senior manager for corporate communications at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles's (FCA) local division said the 695 Rivale, along with the 124 GT and Fiat 500X S-Design, are under evaluation for our market.
"FCA Australia has expressed interest in bringing several models revealed at Geneva today – to Australia – and are currently evaluating these products for the local market," he said.
