Pricing and specifications for the updated 2018 Mahindra XUV500 range have been revealed this week, with the seven-seat SUV kicking off at $25,990 drive-away – $4000 cheaper than before.
Available in two grades, the revised XUV500 now gets a 2.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, making 103kW of power and 320Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed Aisin-sourced automatic transmission as standard – replacing the previous model’s turbo diesel.
The XUV500 is the most affordable seven-seat SUV in the Australian market, complete with 702L of luggage capacity with the third row of seats folded, and a braked towing capacity of 2.5 tonnes.
Standard equipment in the entry-level W6 variant includes seven seats, Isofix child seat mounts for all three seats in the second row, rear parking sensors, a 6.0-inch LCD infotainment system with DAB+ digital radio, front fog-lights, automatic headlights, and a cooled centre console bin.
Topping the range is the W8, which starts at $29,990 drive-away. Extra kit over the base model includes leather seats, electric folding side mirrors, a larger 7.0-inch TFT infotainment screen with satellite navigation and a rear-view camera, along with an LED camping light in the tailgate.
Both grades come as standard with front-wheel drive, though the W8 variant can be optioned with an on-demand all-wheel drive system – bumping the price up to $32,990 drive-away.
Six colours are available – Pearl White, Sunset Orange, Tuscan Red, Dolphin Grey, Moondust Silver and Volcano Black.
All versions of the Mahindra XUV500 are covered by the company’s five year/100,000km warranty with five years roadside assistance and three years of capped-price servicing.
