Sibylla EV announced with sliding windshield, gullwing doors

Coming to Geneva

When you picture a Giugario-designed car, what springs to mind? It might be the Alfa Romeo Brera, or maybe the first-generation Volkswagen Golf. The latest car to roll forth from its legendary studio is unlike anything else in its back catalogue.

Meet the Sibylla EV, complete with a sliding windscreen and gullwing doors. Designed in conjunction with a Chinese energy provider, the car is a luxurious four-seat electric vehicle, named after a mythical Latin figure capable of predicting the future.

It's also a nod to Maria Sibilla, Giorgetto Giugario's mother.

Naming aside, the car is – to our eyes at least – stunning. It has a sweeping, uninterrupted canopy arching over the cockpit, which actually slides forward when the driver wants to jump in. Forget about pillar-less doors, this is a pillar-less roof.

It measures over five metres long and 1.48 metres tall, with a slick silhouette and sharply-cut tail.

The driver is faced with an aeronautically-inspired steering wheel, along with a widescreen infotainment system wrapping around the dashboard. There are reclining seats and individual infotainment systems for rear-seat passengers, too. Thanks to the battery packaging, the floor is completely flat.

Although it's not 100 per cent clear from the images provided, it appears owners can run with the windscreen slightly forward, like a gigantic sunroof, if the mood takes them.

Under the skin is a dual-motor all-wheel drive electric powertrain. There's no word on exact outputs or capacities at this point, but reports have suggested a 75kWh battery pack is likely.

The Sibylla EV will be on display at the Geneva motor show next week. Stay tuned for our coverage.
