2018 Hyundai i30 N pricing and specs
Korean hot hatch due in mid-April from $39,990
Australian pricing and specifications for the 2018 Hyundai i30 N have been announced this week, ahead of a mid-April arrival.
Starting from $39,990 before on-road costs, the Korean manufacturer's first hot hatch dips below the magical $40,000 barrier, and comes standard with the higher-output 202kW/353Nm version (378Nm on overboost) of Hyundai's 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
Equipment highlights include an active variable exhaust, an electro-mechanical limited-slip differential, launch control, 19-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli P-Zero HN tyres, LED headlights and tail-lights with LED daytime-running lights, dual-zone climate control, an 8.0-inch satellite navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with alloy sports pedals.
There's also cloth-trimmed front sports seats, a leather steering wheel, one-touch up/down windows all round, four-way driver's power lumbar adjustment, automatic headlights, a rear-view camera and tyre pressure monitoring.
Keeping drivers safe are seven airbags and the Hyundai SmartSense package, which includes autonomous emergency braking, driver attention alert, forward collision warning and lane-keep assist. There's no adaptive cruise control or blind-spot monitoring, however.
Customers can add "their desired level of luxury" through two option packages: the Luxury Pack and Luxury Pack with panoramic sunroof – creative naming, we know.
The Luxury Pack ($3000) adds gear like front parking sensors, power-folding exterior mirrors, solar control windscreen glass, 12-way power front seat adjustment with driver memory function, upgraded front seats with leather bolsters and suede inserts, smart key with push-button start, wireless smartphone charging, privacy glass, heated front seats and steering wheel, along with an electrochromic rear-view mirror.
Meanwhile, the Luxury Pack with Panoramic Sunroof ($5000) gives you all the features of the Luxury Pack with the addition of a panoramic sunroof, as the name suggests.
Premium paint is the only other cost-option, asking an additional $495. Speaking of paint, six colours will be available – Polar White, Performance Blue and Engine Red (Solid), along with Phantom Black, Clean Slate and Micron Gray (mica/metallic).
