Honda pits virtual Civic Type R against the real deal – VIDEO

Is fear a factor?

Honda has teamed with Turn 10 Studios to see if a real driver, on a real track, is faster than a professional gamer playing Forza Motorsport 7.

IndyCar driver, Graham Rahal, piloted the real Honda Civic Type R around Road Atlanta, while Peter Jeakins handled the virtual laps.

Jeakins is a popular gamer, known for his exploits in Forza, Gran Turismo and Need for Speed. His nickname is TheSLAPTrain – nope, we're not sure why either.

The producers have gone to the trouble of overlaying a gaming-style head-up display and ghost car in the video, making it easier to see where the real driver gains and loses time.

Which was quicker? You'll have to watch the video to find out.
