2018 Bentley Continental GTC spied

New Flying Spur spotted in the snow too

The upcoming Bentley Continental GTC and Flying Spur have been spied this week on the snowy roads of Sweden this week, ahead of an anticipated reveal at the Geneva motor show.

Covered in a blueish-grey wrap, the drop-top GTC looks to be the more production-ready of the two prototypes, looking very much like the Continental GT coupe revealed in September last year.

In classic fashion, the British marque's convertible flagship will sport a fabric roof, rather than a metal one, with everything else pretty much the same as the hardtop version.

Expect a 466kW/900Nm 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 to be under the bonnet at launch – 32kW and 180Nm more than the outgoing model's engine – and a 0-100km/h time of around 4.0 seconds, helped by a quick-shifting eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The GT's raft of new infotainment and driver assistance technologies are almost certain to feature too, including the Audi-like digital driver's instruments, a new rotating widescreen infotainment system, and the availability of LED Matrix headlights.

Meanwhile, the next-generation Flying Spur was spied alongside a new Continental GT coupe along with a pair of Mercedes-Benz S-Classes – one being the ultra-luxe Maybach version.

Like its Continental siblings, the four-door Flying Spur should get a raft of technology and infotainment upgrades, along with the updated engine and new transmission.

Considering this prototype was in convoy with a pair of high-end Benzes, we're expecting the new Flying Spur will be aiming for an even more plush interior and driving experience to better challenge the Maybach S-Class and other high-end limousines like the Rolls-Royce Ghost and upcoming Audi A8.

The Bentley Continental GTC is believed to be prepping for a reveal at the Geneva motor show next month, though it's unclear whether the Flying Spur will also be unveiled at the event – a Paris debut in October seems more likely.

When we'll see the Continental GTC in Australian showrooms is unclear, particularly as its official unveiling date is still to be confirmed. If it bows in Geneva, we could see it here later this year, otherwise a 2019 debut could be on the cards.
