2018 Holden Commodore: CarAdvice reader drive day

The new, imported 2018 Holden ZB Commodore is now officially on sale Down Under, and it has left many wondering if it lives up to the iconic nameplate of its home-made predecessor.

Holden boss Mark Bernhard encouraged skeptics to "drive the car and then have an opinion", so we ran a CarAdvice competition where 27 of our readers were given the chance to do just that at the Holden Proving Ground in Lang Lang.

A mixture of die-hard Holden fans, new car buyers, and even Ford fanatics, were intrigued to see how the all-new Commodore lived up to their expectations.

With three groups of nine participants, each got behind-the-wheel of the German-made car for 45-minute sessions in three challenges.

The Tourer was taken on dirt tracks on Holden's hill route, and ride and handling were tested in the LT which incorporated a 15.5 per cent incline. In the VXR our readers had fun on a slalom course, while others watched a reversing challenge towing a boat.

Holden engineers were on-site to answer any questions, including lead vehicle dynamics engineer, Rob Trubiani. He was a favourite amongst our readers, after his record-breaking Nurburgring lap in a VF SS-V Redline Ute.

So what did our readers think of the Commodore? Check out the video, and stay tuned for more CarAdvice reader events.
