Mazda MX-5 RF Limited Edition now on sale

Special drop-top sports car kicks off at $55,790 drive-away

The Mazda MX-5 Limited Edition has officially gone on sale in Australia, with just 110 available nationally.

Priced at $55,790 drive-away, the MX-5 RF Limited Edition gets a host of cosmetic and mechanical upgrades to make the Japanese sports car even sportier.

Headlining changes over the standard RF GT include "modest winglets" on the front bumper, revisions to the suspension, a front strut bar, Bilstein dampers, 17-inch BBS alloy wheels, and upgraded Brembo brakes with four-piston front calipers.

The new brake package is said to shed almost two kilograms, while pillar-shaped cooling fins and low-steel brake pads improve fade resistance by "up to 26 per cent".

Inside, the only change is the addition of Recaro sports seats, which Mazda claims are the "ultimate blend of sports and luxury".

Each vehicle also comes with a gift-boxed, custom-made Seiko stainless steel Mazda MX-5 chronograph watch.

Under the bonnet is the same 118kW/200Nm 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol four-pot from the standard MX-5 RF, though the Limited Edition is exclusively available with the six-speed manual transmission.
