Local pricing and specifications for the BMW X3 M40i have been detailed this week ahead of a July arrival, with the new performance variant to kick off at $99,900 before on-road costs.
Peak power is available from 5500 to 6500rpm, while maximum torque is on tap between 1250 and 4800rpm.
Drive is sent to a performance-oriented M xDrive all-wheel drive system through an eight-speed sports automatic transmission with steering-mounted paddles, along with a launch control function.
According to the Bavarian manufacturer, 0-100km/h takes just 4.8 seconds, while fuel consumption is rated at 8.9L/100km on the combined cycle, the former no doubt aided by the standard M Sport differential.
Standard equipment includes the M Aerodynamics Package – including of a roof-mounted wing, Cerium Grey body trim elements and black chrome tailpipes, amongst other things – adaptive LED headlights, LED tail-lights, Shadow Line exterior highlights and 21-inch light allow wheels shod in 245/40 front and 275/35 rear run-flat tyres.
Other highlights include M Sport brakes with blue-painted calipers, ambient interior lighting, ‘Vernasca’ leather upholstery, heated front seats, an M leather steering wheel, a 16-speaker harman/kardon sound system, adaptive M suspension, along with 10.25-inch central and 12.3-inch driver’s instrument displays.
Driving Assistant Plus is also included as standard, meaning the X3 M40i comes equipped with adaptive cruise control with stop&go function, front cross-traffic warning, lane-keep assist and side collision warning, while the Parking Assistant Plus package is headlined by an automated parking assistant and 360-degree camera system.
The BMW X3 M40i will be “available from July 2018” priced from $99,900 plus ORCs.
